The National Sports Media Association announced its 2024 nominees today, both nationally & statewide for Sportscaster & Sportswriter of the Year respectively. One name in particular stands out both in Illinois and nationally among today's nominees.
He is Adam Amin. The Bulls & Bears' preseason TV voice headlines quite a group of nominees for Illinois Sportscaster of the Year. Cubs Radio Network's Pat Hughes, Bears Radio Network's Jeff Joniak, Marquee's Taylor McGregor, 670 AM The SCORE's David Haugh, Laurence Holmes & Leila Rahimi, plus ABC 7 weekend sports anchor Dionne Miller were also nominated with Amin for the 2024 Illinois Sportscaster of the Year.
On the national level, Amin, also a FOX Sports' PBP voice on the NFL, MLB & College Basketball, is part of a group of worthy nominees, too. It includes CBS Sports/Westwood One's Ian Eagle, Turner Sports' Charles Barkley & Brian Anderson, ESPN/ABC's Holly Rowe, Sean McDonough, Kirk Herbstreit, Scott Van Pelt, NBC Sports' Mike Tirico & FOX Sports' lead MLB voice Joe Davis.
Last year's Illinois Sportscaster of the Year, former White Sox & Bulls' TV voice Jason Benetti, is up for the same award in Michigan this year. Benetti is now the TV voice of the Detroit Tigers as well as College Football & Basketball voice for FOX.
Ballots will be Emailed to NSMA members December 1 with voting through December 31. Winners will be announced the first week of January, 2025.
