Despite cryptic rumblings that he might retire following the White Sox nightmare season, Steve Stone gave many Sox & baseball fans some much needed good news before their home finale vs the Anaheim Angels Thursday afternoon. He's staying.
Stone has signed a multi-year extension to continue as the principal analyst on White Sox baseball broadcasts when they relocate from NBC Sports Chicago to the new CHSN next year. Stone, considered to be one of MLB's very best analysts and was a finalist for the 2023 Ford C. Frick Award, will work a "more limited game schedule" under terms of his new deal with the Sox announced Thursday afternoon.
John Schriffen, who is wrapping up his first season as new PBP voice, will continue to work Sox games next season when the team moves to the new Chicago Sports Network. That's also the word from Brooks Boyer, the Sox Marketing Director & Chief Revenue Officer.
