With the news that Danny Parkins will be leaving 670 AM The SCORE in the very near future to start up an unnamed morning show at FS1, there could be implications as a result. While Parkins will address the subject on "The Parkins & Spiegel Show" this afternoon, according to the Sun-Times' Jeff Agrest, might it lead to potential programming changes, too?
One scenario has Parkins' co-host Matt Spiegel going back to middays and the current midday duo of Dan Bernstein & Laurence Holmes moving to afternoon drive at the Audacy-owned sports talk, Cubs & Bulls Radio Network flagship. Bernstein, Holmes & the retired Terry Boers are no strangers to afternoons at The SCORE. That's just one possibility.
Another could be the return of former SCORE producer & host Jason Goff, possibly reuniting with Spiegel. While Goff & Spiegel seemed to have chemistry, Goff was removed in a programming shuffle by former Chicago radio executive Jim DeCastro in 2018.
Currently a podcaster with The Ringer, Goff appears to be in a little flux right now with his main duties. It's unclear if Goff will follow the Bulls to their new TV home as pre, halftime & postgame host for the new Chicago Sports Network (CHSN). The new network, which will replace NBC Sports Chicago, is set to launch in October.
Those are just 2 of the scenarios that could play out with news of Parkins leaving The SCORE. Barrett Media also provided 3 other names from outside the Chicago market. Could Parkins' former partner in Kansas City also be in play for this high profile opening?
First, Danny Parkins started "The Parkins & Spiegel Show" by announcing that Wednesday will be his last afternoon show at 670 AM The SCORE. Second, Parkins also announced that the "Cubs for a Cure" radiothon that starts Thursday @ 10A through Friday @ 10A will be it for his employment at The SCORE as well.
Parkins added he can't share where he's going yet. Standard procedure I would assume.
