WMVP applies for an STA to test from the WCPT site.

The days of the Downers Grove site are numbered. The town and residents have bene trying for years to bring it down. The engineers have been looking for a few years now on options. When those towers go down a lot of history will evaporate too.

WLS-FM also has their backup transmitter there. I forgot if they are trying to move it to the B96 backup site on Belmont Ave or somewhere else?

WLS-FM no longer has a backup site there. This was a problem at first when the Sears Tower lost power in 2020 from the flooding.

At the time they had a CP to build an Aux for WLS-FM on the Hancock building. It went on the air for the first time that year as a result. They had to rush it on.

That is the DUMBEST move that could be decided. If you have a nuke or some other massive situation that affects the LOOP or shoreline, 2 transmitters so close to each other, render you off the air. That is the point of having your transmitter far enough to be able to get on air and still serve majority of your audience. SMH.

94.7 was among the only ones that didn't have an Aux downtown aside from Audacy who still has most of their FMs on the old 820 tower outside the old WXRT studio. Most everybody else from Sears is either on the Hancock or Prudential, with WGCI on the Civic Opera building
