It's not just WGN 9. NewsNation, the 24 hour news channel formerly known as WGN America, is also back on DIRECTV as well as some 150 stations nationwide. A new deal with Nexstar, WGN & NewsNation's parent company, isn't a done deal though. It's believed to be only a matter of time before a new deal with Nexstar & DIRECTV will be squared away.

UPDATE: Nexstar and DirecTV reached a new multiyear distribution agreement Monday. The pact covers 176 of Nexstar’s local stations and cabler NewsNation. On Sunday, Nexstar restored these channels to the DirecTV lineup, ahead of a formal agreement being set.

“DirecTV and Nexstar greatly appreciate the patience of their subscribers and viewers during this negotiation,” the companies said in a statement Monday.
