The obits for Jerry Springer paid a lot of attention to his "trash talk" TV show. But he also had a syndicated radio talk show that played on WCPT, AM 820. It was a good, serious discussion show about politics, social issues, and the host's unexpected success on "Dancing with the Stars" (whose top judge also died this week). "I just took the job to learn some dance steps to do at my daughter's wedding!"

It was the first show I heard when WCPT launched on 850. He spent a lot of time talking about Chicago that day. I believe it was based at WCKY in Cincinnati which had just flipped from the Real Oldies format 1690 ran to Progressive Talk. It was their flagship show but did not have a Chicago affiliate. The launch of WCPT on 850 fixed that problem.
