UNREAL! Awoke at 0215CDT to WBBM-AM. I'm in Upper Michigan, so do not know if this was also on 105.9FM. "CBS News - Prime Time" was on thru 0500!!!!!! Breaks for calls? Nothing. Legal IDs: None at 3 or 5AM. Spots at :28, :44, :51, :58 were all for podcasts, etc. Content: "as you can see on the map here" Content: Same content ran EVERY HOUR! Just repeat what was heard one hour ago! Guess the sponsors must be happy. Ads did not run. Just unreal. Pathetic!

Sad, isn’t it? The suits have gutted the budget so much they can’t even have 1 person on staff overnight. Was that 5:00 Eastern or Central? (You mentioned Michigan)

Phil, that was CDT, tho I'm in EDT. IF person A is sick, isn't there a B, C, D back-up? . I've noticed last few nights, shift seems to be 8PM CDT to 5AM (I'm sure overnights are recorded) but this was inept! Ms.Black & Mr. Plumber were anchors.
Hey BBM? What happened to your local news feed overnight? Haven't seen any news releases about it very very disappointed 1d
Author WBBM Newsradio Thank you for your comment. We'd love to get this fixed for you. Can you give more details about the issue you're experiencing? 1dEdited
Author WBBM Newsradio The issue overnight stemmed from an unexpected operational problem, forcing us to change our usual format. This is an isolated incident, and things should be back to normal this evening. Thanks for listening! 1d
WBBM Newsradio you don't understand when I was up at 4:00 a.m. Chicago time tuned into your radio station on the a.m. dial 780 you guys were getting a national news feed and said the local news feed I called the news station and they said there was a technical difficulty all overnight long I just wanted to know what the heck the problem was cuz I don't see any news release about it
PUBLIC posting on FB page.

Audacity is sold as a big market media company, they are not.
They could have made announcements there were local difficulties, to please stand by while listening to the national feed. Was there anyone in the building to do it? If there was, did that person even have a brain cell to do it? Did they even care to do it if they are so busy?
They are so broke, that they are too broke to even think they are broke.
There is no programming or expense that will suffer due to their being inept running a company. Their stock shares closed at 13 cents yesterday. They are selling their asses to try to keep the lights on.

Simple. It's pre recorded overnight and the WideOrbit probably crashed. Since there's nobody there other than probably a board op, there's only so much they could do.

Still, no excuse. Someone couldn't be called in?
Mr. Smith. It was 5AM CDT. No LID at :4:58. They couldn't do the LID (Legal ID) at 5:05AM, after CBS news?
What ever happened to common sense? Quoting my (RIP) sister: "common sense is not that common!"

No shade on Jeremy, but for his generation, "this is ok". For us that are older, "no, this is not ok". That is why you will see a difference of view. This crap was never OK back in the past when people took pride offering GOOD radio to the masses.
I doubt there was even a board op there. If there was like I said in my last post, either too ignorant to give a legal ID or just don't care.
Audacy is sleeping at the wheel. 13 cent stock value. Anyone care to tell me that is ok in itself?

It's not OK. But they really don't care aside from the engineers, and nowdays nobody can find one. They didn't care in the CBS days either. I remember several of their stations went down one night. I called no answer. So I tried to call another cluster, the main cluster for CBS Radio at the time. New York. Figured they could tell me who to call since they were at the top. The rudest woman answered the phone and said "You called New York." and that's all she could say. Nothing else.
Only big company with a 24 hour team is EMF. If there is dead air, or if you just have a question you can call their number 24/7 and someone will pick up.

Thank you Jeremy. I stand corrected, I understand what you meant on the original post.
It is just bad all the way around. No one cares, everyone is overworked and no one employs engineers in house anymore. (at least I do not think so).

A lot of them want engineers. iHeart after firing most of theirs is trying to hire again. Nobody wants those jobs. They take advantage of them. Make them handle several different markets at once with their own vehicle.
A lot of engineers will actually jump to other companies, such as EMF. They'll take a paycut but they take care of the employees, give them what they need. They would rather have a better working environment, even for lower pay.
Vast majority of the others have contract engineers they bring in when needed. Usually few and far between. Nowdays if a station goes down, it's not impossible for it to be off for a couple weeks instead of hours. Nobody with RF experience around. Not enough parts.

I had a hunch you meant 5am Central. Wow. Years ago that was someone getting terminated. Today it’s just, meh, whatevahs —

I cringe while laughing. This is hilariously accurate.
