WRHL AM/FM Rochelle - Format tweak - Hey just become bland like everyone else on the dial!

WRHL 1060AM and Translator on 93.5FM, have dropped the 90s (shame they really were hitting tunes not heard elsewhere). Now known by "SuperHits 93.5 The Greatest Hits Of All Time from the 60s 70s & 80s!" They added news at the bottom of the hour. The production has been notched down.

The carnage also involves dropping the Rick Dees 90s weekly countdown on Sundays. Also gone is "Yacht Rock Radio w/ Captain Adam Ritz" -- massively sad move. That is probably the best weekly syndicated show for the genre.

The last commercial radio station off my presets. Now I am down to 0.

The worst of the worst is, they extended Tom Kents show. He is terrible. He thought he was a legend on WLS. He wasn't, still isn't. Full of himself. - Fits in perfectly on radio today!

I liked it when they were "Good time oldies 1060" before the translator signed on. I suppose I'm just nostalgic, old or both!

WYOT is really the big station in that cluster.

The Coyote 102.3 is the big dog in that area, correct Jeremy.

It is just regressive to go back instead of forward. Listening to the music, it is really 60s heavy. Their average listener is north of 70.

Rochelle and the surrounding areas this signal serves is not Chicago, not even Rockford in any measure. But man, that is even more reason not to regress into a demo that has no money in it. Their ad loads were always on the thin side. During regular programming and syndicated shows. Perhaps the issue is your sales people not being hungry enough to chase the dollar, as opposed to the format.

I'm reading this thread and when I see "60s heavy" as reported by WYTZZ95FM, I recall the recreation of WCFL. In this case, it was WCFL-FM 104.7 in Morris, IL. The hits of the 60s and 70s. If my memory serves, they boosted their signal to the point it interfered with WJMK-FM 104.3 in Chicago itself. 104.7 went dark for a month or so and this was the beginning of the end. Hard to believe this was 30-35 years ago.

If that station which still uses the WCFL call letters were in that format, the demo would be quite high. I think those "local" stations are supported by local advertising.

I don't have much of an opinion about Tom Kent. Did he have an oldies show on the 103.9 FM frequency at one point? I had a friend who had that station on all the time in her car.

103.9 ran Tom Kent's radio network almost 24/7 toward the end. Similar to Scott Shannon, he had a 24 hour network that stations could carry. It was called 24/7 Fun and 103.9 resorted to running it before it flipped to Classic Rock
