Ron "The Goose" Gleason will retire in January
Part of his past in the story = Gleason started his career as a sportscaster in the 1970s. He worked at WCBY Cheboygan and WJOL Joliet before joining WBBM for the first time in 1985 as a reporter. From 1988-1991, Gleason served as Sports Director at WMAQ and also filled in as play-by-play announcer for Chicago White Sox broadcasts. He was the original PD of “The Score” WSCR, joining the station in 1991 and overseeing the launch of its 24/7 sports talk format. He also worked as the play-by-play announcer for DePaul University basketball from 1997-2005.
After leaving “The Score” in 2001, Gleason served as President of UBC Radio until 2004, when he joined WBBM as a news anchor. He was named to his current role in 2005.
