The status of this is more like “We mailed the FCC a letter and we’re hoping they don’t toss it in the trash with campaign flyers and casino mailings” nevertheless I am very much curious if this gets anywhere.

I agree with Phil too.

This has been tossed around before. They have nothing to lose at this point. Actually, deployed correctly, it can alleviate a lot of the FM hash with LPFM and translators. But as written, this will most likely benefit Religious and other non-comms.

We have radio manufacturers, notably automobile, not wanting to put AM band and HD in anymore. Will they comply to produce expanded band radios? I know the Chinese will be happy to do so.
