Longtime fan of his concerned about his well-being. Does any insider or friend know what he's up to and what his future plans are? The stuff about his firing, hospital stay and 'possible jail time' are disturbing to say the least.

He has a life of his own, give him his privacy.

I often see his dad working at 'The Jewels' by my cousins house in Portage Park but I get the feeling Jolly Old Saint Nick does not want to talk about young Nick so I do not ask. BTW Nick the dad is very talkative and loves to tell jokes.

He seems fine to me, spending time with his parents and talking about movies and TV shows on his Facebook. What's he supposed to do with Covid now?

Nick fell into his gig at WGN.
Nothing to fall back on and nothing to look forward to except reruns of inane sitcoms.
I have empathy for him and his parents. Fifty-something year old man, probably with no assets, whose only interest in life is movies and television.

I'm guessing that all those years of employment at WGN has left Nick with some form of "assets." And his interest in popular culture should eventually pay off with some kind of media gig.

ChiTownGal Nick's middle of the night shift was no sweat for WGN.
No one was really listening and they have to put something on the air.
The ability to quote every line of dialogue, verbatim from Three's Company is not an "asset", it's dysfunctional.

Night-owl shift guys like Nick, Ed Schwartz, and many others can gather a small (by ratings standards) but intensely loyal following among graveyard-shift workers, college students, "party people" and, as Steve King once put it, "parents rocking themselves and their kids to sleep after 2:00 am feedings." That can translate into some easy extra money for the station if the management is smart about how to handle it. Obviously that's not the case here.

Whatever they have on now at WGN is unlistenable, so sorry that they had to do this to Nick. I do agree with Howie, Nick fell into the job, but that happens to many people. I hope Nick can get something good to work out for him, or he might end up at the Jewel until he retires.

Geez dude, just because he's not your cup of tea doesn't mean you should spit on his life. Yes, he knows a lot about music/movies/tv. But that was his gig. You have no clue what else he can do because you don't know him.
