Did IHeart make a mistake to kill off Country on BIG 95.5 Chicago?

Someone mentioned that they beat US99 25 - 54. US99 is shattered now that Entercom has cut them to nothing. Did iHeart mess up and should have waited to pull the plug? At least they were local except for Bobby Bones.

You know what they say about hindsight. But you bring up a valid point, 99 never makes these moves if Big is still here, my question is why take a Marci off air? She’s not costing the station anything to VT, she is a native and Nashville loves her. I think Z, (WYTZ) is correct to say there is a sale or bankruptcy coming. I do know 99 had talked about a new “ all female” morning show and that collapsed when Covid doubled down) ...will 99 get a bump from big leaving the format? It will but it won’t be much. To many other options and let’s face it Drew is not a solution to a station that has t had a good morning show for a few years now. In all honestly it’s a sad situation for country radio and radio in general. There is still Money to be made but not the type of money that the big 3 operators need to generate. Perhaps we see someone like Larry Wert start buying.....he was close on the Loop, and prices they are falling.

Sal, I think Entercom still would have made the moves even if BIG was still on. In hindsight there are some iHeart discussions saying WTF the past few days.

There will be individual or whole market sales coming up to "tide them over". I do not think you will see trades. There will be BKP. This is all dressing and staging before it happens.

But be careful! Some on here are claiming I am full of it as I do not know what I know or am saying. You do not want to be associating with me!

So, expect the whole Entercom cluster to go on American Pickers? This is like the end days of house-to-house milk delivery. The only thing keeping AM and FM “safe” from FCC reallocation/auction is that their frequencies are not well-suited for internal antenna mobile devices.
