Steve Dale filled in this past week for Anna D....did an outstanding job! He has a regular slot on Sunday mornings from 5:30-6AM for his pet show, that is a god awful time, and I think Steve really showed what an excellent job he can do...

WGN changes are interesting...now if they’d only hire Fred Winston?

Old people like radio. Why not cater to them? Not like young people are clamoring for talk radio.

I'm totally shocked, every night I listen to Nick people are calling saying how they love his show. I'm so sad for him, good luck Nick!

ja-ja it seems like Nicks days were numbered. First they made him drop his intro for some generic crap. Then the two fer Tuesdays 3 fer Wednesdays an so on. Nicks show is best when he is doing movies...tv..entertainment stuff. But when you have so many hours to fill well, time for the LISTS! I really think that's it for live hosts on overnights @wgn. Sad to say. I hope I'm wrong because I love listening to live conversations during the night. As for Nick I don't see any place for his kind of show anywhere else in the market.

I was a fan of Roe from the OJ time until his last few years at wls. As bad as he had become on wls he was far worse after the move to wgn. I was skeptical of Anna getting her own show but listen to her as much as I can and I am happy her show has expanded.

I totally agree with you, they removed his signature beginning months ago, but I didn't like the guy they had in for his vacation, he did interview after interview and never talked to the audience, just the guests, and it was not fun or listenable. They removed the movie guys on Sunday night, but I thought that was from Covid, probably not. I hope they would get "Elton" Jim Turano in for him, but they won't, it will be a guy that's all business, with not a drop of fun in his body. Good bye Nick and WGN,it was fun. No more jokey, jokey joke on Monday morning!

I never lasted for that anyway.

I do think that the "movie guys" segment on Sunday/Monday was eliminated due to the fact that 99% of theatres were closed, and not everyone does the "streaming" thing. I was guessing that once things got back to "normal" the movie segments would be back.
But why did the monthly movie night events end? Didn't Nick attract a good crowd when he rented a theatre for a movie screening and discussion?

ChiTownGirl, Nick stopped doing his movie nights because they were doing renovations to the theater he used, then they changed his hours to his show starting another hour earlier, which would have messed up his movie night availability.

That was Dane Neal filling in. Why they didn't ask for Brian who always, always brings the listening people in, who knows. I do know having the same crap they have on during the day is generally not for people at night, unless they cut out any political stuff & keep it fun. So far the reruns segment late Sat. into early morning Sun. they use the clips that involve everything political. I end up going over to BBM to listen to regular news.

I listened to WGN's Nick D show up in Winnipeg every other night when the AM signal comes in after dark. I was my go to other than the campus radio locally and the syndicated overnight show on the Canadian Corus network which is also an easy going fun program. But Nick was always the gold standard. Repeats of the days programming conveys a lack of respect for the overnight audience. It's like a restaurant serving cold leftover mashed potatoes.
