Yikes. No words from Chicago yet.

I don't get how these stations are doing so bad. I hear the same amount, if not MORE, commercials.

On the heels of yesterday’s announcement of the upcoming shutdown of Westwood One News, Cumulus Media has begun a round of layoffs across the company....

Cumulus has great employees. Some of the finest people in the industry work for them, not only on the local level but on the national level with Westwood One (Which was part of this). I wish them the best.

The almost 1,000 stations running Westwood One’s national news also have quite the job to fill. That in itself basically replaced the defunct CNN Radio News. A lot of stations run that network for news, many of them are in small towns, mom and pop operations

The breakdown of the radio industry. Payback for running companies like drunken sailors. Not keeping up with the technological trends. Overpaying for properties and ending up in massive debt.

This is not insulting or ripping on these people, a lot of these people that are losing their jobs seriously need to re-evaulate their line of work. These companies give 0 crap about these people.
