John "Rock" Mamola was once a producer and occasionally hosted himself on The SCORE long before he programmed WDAE-AM & FM, the sports talk stations in Tampa for about a decade. That was before Mamola himself was among a series of corporate cutbacks by WDAE's parent company iHeart Media about 2 years ago.

In the wake of Mike Mulligan & Marshall Harris losing their jobs at 104.3 FM The SCORE late last week, let alone bringing in former WGN 9 sports anchor Jarrett Payton to take over a new look morning show starting Monday, Mamola wrote the following column for Barrett Media.
