The cost cutting had commenced before we lost Les. It has just escalated dramatically, especially this year. We never thought it would touch spoken word, especially sports. The overnight programming scene was on its deathbed. The other dayparts are all on notice.

Les was one of kind, able to crack the microphone, solo, engage the listeners and put them on air. BUT, it worked because there were no ratings and no real revenue to risk anything. Audacy had ZERO interest to continue this after Les passed on. None. Because Les was the driving force to help supplement the rest of the station, increasing its value peripherally. He was the legend. Not replaceable for something that did not make money directly for the station or the parent company.
