While the ballgame will be a home game of sorts for Sciambi, also the principal TV voice of the Cubs on Marquee Sports Network, could Cub fans be seeing & hearing less of "Boog" moving forward?
I bring this up because Sciambi's national employers ESPN/ABC announced a fresh round of budget cuts today. ESPN's parent company The Walt Disney Company closed a deal 6 months ago to acquire NFL Media, parent company of NFL Network, in exchange for a 10 percent stage of the "Worldwide Leader".
One of the notable names who was among the cuts, 33 year ESPN veteran Karl Ravech, who was the principal voice of MLB in recent years as well as the voice of the College World Series & Little League World Series. Ravech called the 96th MLB All-Star Game last Tuesday in Philadelphia on ESPN Radio and Dodgers/Phillies Monday night on ESPN nationally. Now, Ravech is out of work.
The school of thought is that Sciambi could likely be promoted to lead MLB voice on ESPN and that could mean fewer Cub games on Marquee moving forward.
As for the list of expendable names as a result of ESPN/NFL Media's budget cuts...
