For guys like ESPN/ABC's Jay Williams as well as CBS/TNT & NBC/Peacock's Robbie Hummel, there's a huge roadblock standing in the way. That's their respective national committments.

Hummel in particular, even though he did work a handful of Bulls' games in the pandemic-shortened 2020 NBA season. Hummel has gotten rave reviews for his analysis and many have mentioned the former Purdue star in the same sentence with ESPN/ABC's Jay Bilas, especially if you listen to how they sound. Hummel's national work with the above networks makes him also a longshot to land this position in the wake of Stacey King's passing.

Same for Williams, who was the #2 overall pick of the Bulls in the 2002 NBA Draft and whose playing career was cut short by a nasty motorcycle accident. The issue with Williams is that he's all over ESPN, not just on "First Take", but all over the network's college basketball coverage as well as a co-host of "College GameDay" with host Rece Davis, former Virginia Tech HC Seth Greenberg & former Tennessee star Andraya Carter.

Will Perdue makes sense because he & Kendall Gill worked together on the defunct NBC Sports Chicago pre & postgame shows with Jason Goff before CHSN launched 2 years ago. Perdue has also worked games nationally on Westwood One Radio during the NCAA Tournament as well as Windy City Bulls' G-League that have also aired on the 2 networks respectively with Mark Schanowski courtside. Perdue's contract wasn't renewed when the Bulls moved their games from NBCSC to CHSN in 2024.

Whoever gets this job will have BIG shoes to fill, let alone plenty of Stacey's hot sauce.
