Games this season will air on a different night of the week this MLB season on ESPN, which will also have a few Sunday games this season airing on ABC.
ESPN will air the New York Mets/Los Angeles Dodgers' game April 15, known around MLB as the annual Jackie Robinson Day. This is the day in which every player, Coach and even the umpires wear #42 in homage to Robinson, who broke the game's color barrier in 1947.
The broadcast will start with a special "Baseball Tonight" from Los Angeles with host Karl Ravech, Eduardo Perez, Doug Glanville & Tim Kurkjian on site and features a special on air essay from Glanville. Joe Buck will call this game with Ron Darling & Orel Hershiser as analysts with Buster Olney serving as the dugout reporter for this exclusive national game with the Mets & Dodgers. Olney will continue to serve as ESPN's lead dugout reporter again this season.
That also leads me to Jon "Boog" Sciambi. While we'll continue to see "Boog", Jim Deshaies & dugout reporters Taylor McGregor and Elise Menaker on Marquee Sports Network's Cubs' broadcasts, the story today is that "Boog" has been promoted by ESPN...Sort of.
The "Worldwide Leader" announced today that Sciambi, along with Ravech & part time Boston Red Sox TV voice Mike Monaco will rotate as lead broadcasters on ESPN/ABC's MLB coverage this season. Kevin Brown, the TV voice of the Baltimore Orioles on MASN who worked the Cubs' NL Wildcard Series vs the San Diego Padres last October, will also work selected ESPN broadcasts this season.
Sciambi, Ravech & Glanville will also headline ESPN Radio's national broadcasts, heard locally on ESPN 1000 AM.
This year's MLB broadcaster roster includes the return of former Cubs' manager David Ross as well as former White Sox 3B Todd Frazier and the just retired MLB reliever Adam Ottavino.
