The 90s, as Jeremy stated elsewhere in this thread, the 90s was fragmented depending where you were in the US. Also, the early - mid 90s is when most CHR/Top 40s faded off, flipped formats, became HotAC's, etc It really depended what area you were in. Also, CHR did not start showing life again until Ace of Base and Real McCoy appeared. The Alternative leaning and Alternative stations being the CHR in disguise were asking "This is a hit, how do we play it? Doesn't fit our format".
2K saw the death of CHR and Pop. Post 2000 and for many years, your common CHR outside of a few stations, was Hip Hop + Rock and no middle ground. No boy bands, No Country, no Soft Rock.....
