I think the bigger issue is how stations plan to fill voids in their respective schedules in the wake of the demise of "Access Hollywood", "Karamo" & "The Steve Wilkos Show".
The plan is for "Access" to continue airing until September. Meanwhile, "Karamo" & "Wilkos" have wrapped production and will air shows until the end of the summer.
I think at the end of the day, the business of television has changed. Syndication may have made Roger & Michael King very rich in the '80s when their company King World started distributing shows such as "Wheel of Fortune", "Jeopardy!" & "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to local stations across America, but not so much now.
"Baywatch" was a ratings flop in its only season on NBC in 1989-90, but they found their niche in syndication and became quite the show some 35 years ago.
Syndication is no longer the cash cow that it once was. I think it's very likely we get more local news to fill the voids following the cancellations of these talk shows as well as "Access Hollywood" this fall.
