The article explains how Classic Hits are heading into the 2K and even 2K10 decades. The most important part is admitting that CH is now encroaching on CHR and HOT AC stations as they are aging and no longer teen formats.

After pulverizing the 80s with the same 150 titles, most of the CH stations are ignoring the 90s all together. No wonder radio is dying and people are fleeing. Same thing they did with the 70s, pretended it never happened. WLS-FM is avoiding the hip hop titles but one of the new adds is Train, Drops of Jupiter. In other cities CH is classic hip hop.

Others have more sweeping changes, including WOGL (Big 98.1) Philadelphia. Nearly a year ago, that station went noticeably into the early-’00s Hip-Hop and R&B titles that had been the calling card of the Throwback Hip-Hop format, as well as being shared with some Hot AC and CHR stations, especially now as those formats become older and deeper.
