The original NBCSN aired NHL, the Tour de France, as well as NASCAR, College Football & Basketball and the Olympics before the channel originally shuttered in 2021. At the time, NBCSN moved much of their sports programming to USA Network, a sister network in the NBC Universal family.
However, USA is being spun off themselves into what's called Versant and yesterday, announced a rebrand of its sports properties as USA Sports. To paraphrase the late, great Rod Roddy on "Soap" back in the day, "Confused?"
The newly branded USA Sports will be airing programming on USA Network, Golf Channel & CNBC such as the PGA Tour, LPGA, USGA Championships, NASCAR, Premier League Soccer, WNBA & Atlantic 10 Basketball starting in 2026.
As for the new NBCSN, they'll air NBA, WNBA, Big Ten Basketball & Football, the Premier League, the Kentucky Derby, Olympic sports & plans to air MLB games, too. They also plan on airing simulcasts of "The Dan Patrick Show" as well as "PFT Live" & "The Dan LeBatard Show". All of these currently can be found on Peacock, NBC's streaming service.
Initially, the new NBCSN will be available on YouTube starting Monday & and will find their way onto Xfinity/Comcast systems shortly thereafter. Additional distributors will be announced at a later date.
You have questions, I'm sure. I'm just the messenger, folks. Hopefully, these links answer your questions about why NBCSN is making a comeback:
