There are many AM'ers from back in the day, rather reduce to 1 watt and not turn off the TX box, as it puts more stress + wear and tear on it, to go off, gets cold and contracts, turn on (some needed warm up time) more stress expanding with heat, etc.

In today's world, it actually upholds the rule to be a real translator for an FM.
