When we watch a sporting event in Chicago, it’s not always Adam Amin or Jon “Boog” Sciambi calling the game. Sometimes, it is the ones next in line who call the action on the diamond, on the ice, on the gridiron & on the court.

Front Office Sports has compiled a list of Rising Sports Play by Play talent, and some of them are calling the games right in our own backyard.

I’ll start with Alex Cohen, who was the PBP voice of the Triple “A” Iowa Cubs for 7 seasons. This past spring & summer, he was named as “Boog’s” permanent fill-in on Marquee Sports Network’s exclusive coverage of Chicago Cubs baseball when “Boog” was on assignment for ESPN Radio.

Another person of note is Jason Ross Jr., who calls Big Ten football, basketball & hockey on the Big Ten Network. The last 2 summers, Ross has also added Chicago Sky play by play to his resumé, splitting the work with Lisa Byington, also the TV voice of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Last but not least, there’s another BTN-er in Kylen Mills, who made her local debut this summer as the radio voice of the Sky on 670 AM The SCORE. She also filled in for Amin calling a Bulls’ preseason game last month with Stacey King.
