Needless to say, it takes quite a team to put together the Bank of America Chicago Marathon, which airs this Sunday morning on NBC 5, on Telemundo 44 in Spanish as well as on 670 AM The SCORE.
For NBC 5, it's the 18th straight year that the station has aired live coverage of the Marathon and 22nd overall. The NBC Universal-owned station will utilize afternoon news anchor Marion Brooks as lead studio host. Principal news anchor Stefan Holt will do the honors on site with anchor/reporter Alex Maragos at the start/finish line. Other NBC 5 news talent reporting live from the neighborhoods & weekend meteorologist Kevin Jeanes providing the raceday weather.
There are a couple of elements to how NBC 5 presents the Chicago Marathon. One part involves the elite runners at the front of the line. Another part involves the amateur runners and the human side which NBC 5 has profiled all year.
Most of all, it's a complete local production, regardless if you're watching on NBC 5 or on Telemundo 44.
Coverage starts on NBC 5 at 6:30A (CT) Sunday morning followed by the race itself from 7-11A.
Not to be outdone, 670 AM The SCORE will paint the picture for the 20th year. Morning sports anchor Josh Liss, on loan from WBBM 780 AM/WCFS 105.9 FM, will anchor WSCR's radio coverage of Sunday's Marathon. Midday co-host Leila Rahimi, Gabe Ramirez, Mike Esposito & Judson Richards will all contribute to 670 AM's live radio broadcast.
As for comments from NBC 5 President/General Manager Kevin Cross on how he & the station are preparing for the annual Chicago Marathon broadcast, look no further than here for the link:
