Comcast is raising its monthly sports fee to $20.25 per month. This higher fee goes for Marquee Sports Network's Cubs replays, Bears-related programming & live college & high school broadcasts, as well as the FOX Sports-powered Big Ten Network & the defunct NBC Sports Chicago, per the Tribune's Robert Channick.
While Comcast/Xfinity customers continue to see a credit for their January statement, the stalemate continues between the cable provider and CHSN, which replaced NBCSC as the new Bulls, Blackhawks & White Sox channel in October.
Marquee's own deal with Xfinity expired September 30, but continues to operate via short term extensions. The buzz is that Xfinity wants to move Marquee to its more expensive Ultimate tier, which is also said to be a big reason why CHSN remains off Xfinity's air leaving many customers without Bulls & Hawks' games now and possibly Sox games when they officially join the lineup in the New Year.
If you can get through the dreaded paywall, Channick's story on Comcast/Xfinity raising their fee and remaining off CHSN can be found here:
