Pretty sure he's doing similar formats in South Bend these days. WZOC has a traditional Classic Rock format. Then there's WQYQ in SW Michigan, Alternative

I didn't like The Zone as an 80s station. It was not the same as WXXY. It was bland. The Hot AC format in the summer I think drew ire of NextMedia for using WJTW's positioner.

I think the best they did as "The Zone" was Alternative. Hit based, not Active leaning, trying to be what Q101 was before Mancow. Music intensive, not alienating the female audience. But they started making weird decisions like repeating the top songs every hour like 103.5 at some point in the late summer of 2002. It sounded like they were trying to be a Top-40 station with Alternative Rock. It was Active Rock by Spring
