During one of his voice-tracked midday shows on 97.1 FM The Drive, Bob Stroud briefly described something similar with Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry back when Stroud was the Production Director at the long since defunct WMET 95.5 in the early '80s. Perry would be handed a brief script to tell listeners what station we're listening to.

I think Mick Jagger got something similar when the Rolling Stones' frontman recorded one of those artist IDs at The Drive years ago.
