The national sports talk radio network, heard locally on 670 AM The SCORE late nights & overnights, will be rebranded as Infinity Sports Network starting Monday, April 15.
CBS Sports Radio originally launched in 2013 and was part of CBS Radio itself until they and Entercom merged in 2017. Now owned by Audacy, the rights to the famous CBS eye expired in 2019, but not the name itself. Audacy continued to manage the sports talk network under a licensing deal with CBS that was extended beyond December 31, 2020.
The rebranding comes as a licensing deal that governed the New York-based sports talk radio network is also expiring. The name change also comes as syndicated sports talk radio host Jim Rome recently ended his daily TV simulcast with CBS Sports Network and moving the video version of his show to Twitter/X. As a result of Rome leaving CBSSN, Audacy bosses thought the time was right for CBS Sports Radio to rebrand as Infinity Sports Network.
The Infinity name is an ode to the company's former radio identity as Infinity Broadcasting founded by Chairman Mel Karmazin.
