The veteran sportscaster announced his retirement after a 41 year career at ABC 7. Rose has been there for all the greatness in Chicago sports along the way from the Bears winning their only Super Bowl in 1985 to all 6 Bulls' NBA Championships in the '90s. He's also been there when the White Sox won the World Series in 2015, as well as all 3 Blackhawks' Stanley Cup titles in the last decade to the Cubs winning the World Series in 2016. J.R. has been there for it all.
Rose has been more than just ABC 7's top sports anchor in recent years. He's been a huge part of the station's annual Chicago Auto Show broadcast, as well as the annual Bud Billiken Back to School Parade and his work with local charities.
J.R. anchors his final sportscast on September 15. Needless to say, he will be missed on the Chicago sports scene and quite a tall task for ABC 7 to succeed the veteran sports anchor.
