According to Sports Business Journal & confirmed by NASCAR, the Xfinity Series will have a new TV home starting in 2025.
All 33 races, including at some of motorsports' most iconic tracks such as Daytona, Talladega, AL & the series Championship in Phoenix, will be carried by...Wait for it...The CW. Crickets chirping. All 33 Xfinity Series races currently airing on FOX, FS1, NBC & USA Network respectively, will be available on over the air & free TV for the first time in series history.
NASCAR's new deal with The CW comes as the network raised a lot of eyebrows earlier this year for acquiring the controversial LIV Golf Tour.
The CW also acquired the broadcast rights to ACC Football & Basketball games. These are the ones that had aired the last couple of years on Bally Sports' regionals including Marquee Sports Network on fall Saturday afternoons & during the winter months. The ones that don't air on ESPN's ACC Network I might add.
The $64,000 question is this locally. Which Chicago TV station will be airing the ACC Football & Basketball games mentioned above as well as the NASCAR Xfinity Series based on this morning's big announcement.
Even though Chicago's CW station is branded as CW 26, WCIU is NOT owned by Nexstar yet WGN 9 is. WGN aired the controversial LIV Golf Tour this past spring. Will WGN air ACC Football & Basketball as well as the NASCAR Xfinity Series? All I gotta say is stay tuned.
