The whole market and industry is on the cheap.
Credit to Sal which doesn't seem to post on here anymore..... he told me this is the answer to other other end of ME-TV FM. I am thinking this is Female target? But the music is awful. One good song, then crap. The jocks do not match the format either. Credit to Hubbard, but this is not working.
1003. is there to flank 101.9 which honestly is not what it used to be. They are serving the CHR audience turned off by KISS and B96. Adult CHR, upper demos. But at a 1.2 which only Merlin had a lower rating on a full signal, flank or not, this is not working.
There are so many format holes in Chicago:
Classic Hits is on fire. A B96/WBMX/Energy 80s 90s based Dance format that can move forward with age. --- But when you have old school White dudes that should have retired a long time ago think this is a Crossdresser format, don't expect miracles. This includes the researchers which are clueless and rely on AI for their next breath. Or companies like Audacy anyone?
Jazz.
New Age/Jazz.
CHR that doesn't focus on Hip Hop and instead blends radio friendly electronic and World Music. (Not everyone wants to hear Post Malone and Billie Eilish all the time).
The demos in Chicago do not support a straight ahead Hard Rock station (it is no longer 1980 where the market is White and Male. Truth). Also most of those above will not be #1, but they will own a demo or 2 and can be sold that way).
You are witnessing radio dying as you knew it and know it. It will get worse.
