From what I can see, somewhat obscure or less known titles are heard in the overnight hours.
Wild musical segues are heard as well. I submit the following.
3:51 AM Magic Carpet Ride--Steppenwolf (1968)
3:54 AM To Be with You--Mr. Big (1991)
This is a 23-year musical jump and I don't think the segue fits. It doesn't end there.
Another overnight with the classic recording from Ottis Redding's "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" from 1968, segued into "Twilight Zone" by Golden Earring which was released in 1982.
Let's forget about the the age of the music for a minute. I realize music is subjective but some of the segues heard do not seem to be well thought out.
And I understand the demo problem. The music has to continually move forward but the trick is not to alienate the WLS-FM P1 listeners while attracting new and younger listeners.
From what I gather, every song heard on many radio stations have been researched within an inch of its life. The question is, will this programming stand the test of time?
Are we hearing classic rock lite?
