The audio bandwidth is currently capped at about 3.5 kHz. The digital stream issues are apparently solved and the audio is clean, with a decent modulation level. It’s just that opening up the IF any greater than 3k adds no treble.
I’ve been saying for years since Birach transplanted WMFN from Zeeland MI that they are squandering a decent Chicagoland 24h signal, while AM still has any relevance. It’s about time they do something useful with those four new, shiny towers.
I wonder how reliable their network feed is. The towers are in a farmfield 2 miles away, and across I-57, from the closest broadband ISP. If they are smart they would mimic Bible Broadcasting’s implementation across the highway, which is a 951.5 MHz microwave link for 99.9 WYHI. But of course you have to feed that from somewhere.
