I was driving through West Chicago this morning and heard a number of music stations which normally would not be heard under ideal conditions.
106.1 FM was playing Funkytown by Lipps
92.9 FM was interfering with 93.1 WXRT as they were also playing music.
94.5 FM had a pretty clear signal as well.
In all honesty, I find these instances annoying. I'm aware there are huge fans of DXing. I'm not one of them.
I didn't stick around long enough to catch any station ID simply for the reason stated.
I'm wondering if some of those out-of-reach stations were translators. Unknown.
If my memory serves, doesn't long distance FM reception occur during winter months?
Thank you.
