What can they mix on? Hip Hop is in the slumps and is covered by Power and WGCI. They do not play any current dance or gold rhythmic dance, so that is out. They can do top40 mixes, but does it really matter to the youth and their audience? The mixes in the late 80s to the late 90s, defined their image and what dance product filtered down to their playlist for regular departs. It just doesn't apply here.
I am still shaking my head that B96 hasn't skewed the format one way or another to fend off KISS, The Mix, Jams and weather the downturn. This is a tried and true formula that has worked in radio for years. Own your share and super serve what your competition can't dish out. Just settle for being mediocre instead!
