I am not your typical anal ham radio or electronics nerd. I believe things need to loosen up a bit and get the younger generation in or the public will lose the bandwidth and the service will go away. But if we do not follow certain rules and procedures, you can drop a plane, stop a pacemaker or cause other harmful actions. Or violate the holy grail and cost cell and data companies a loss or revenue, you will be nailed to the cross. But, this whole thing is a pile of useless poo. There is absolutely NO reason for them to be given a break. A lot of the Ch6 stations went off the air, all the other analogs went digital or went dark. More of the last remaining Ch6 Frankens will go dark and so should 87.75FM Chicago. OR, they can wait for the 6 month STA to complete in SD and see if the FCC approves this to be used. Then they can return back on to the air at that time.
People are confusing METV-FM, with the owners of the TV station Venture. Venture can toss off Weigel when the contract is over. Weigel can go broke. They can give up the project. (It is hard to imagine how they are making much if any money off of this, after paying the monthly lease fee, since they do not own the signal). People are more interested to see METV-FM live on not the real reason why 87.75 should or should not be given a stay of execution.
