101.5 is much better coverage, but as I mentioned that is owned by EMF. When Moody made the decision to sell the AM they also made the decision not to spend any more money leasing 101.5. I donít see any way they can relocate 106.3 without making it so directional that they are eliminating a lot of potential coverage.
And yes, that is definitely a very big decline in value of the AM but I thought it would be even worse. It is an excellent signal, but in the winter months they have to sign off as early as 4:15PM. Tough to make money when you canít even be on the air in drivetime for a few months each year. It was being sold with no real estate included in the deal, just basic assets such as transmitter and associated equipment. I havenít seen the final contract yet so Iím guessing that did not change. Moodyís Addison tower carries both AM and FM and I am sure Moody will also be making money by continuing to lease the AM site to them for a decent amount of cash. Made sense for the buyer, because rather than continuing to spend money to lease the inferior signal of WNDZ, they can put that money towards the purchase of AM 1110. Hope it works out for them.
