The Bell Bloodbath from yesterday where 10 FM stations were solidified into "More" saddened me.
I think we, as radio geeks, whatever, notice these things.
Talked to my barber on a recent radio sale. He, 54 y/o said "nobody listens to the radio. The kids all stream!"
Talked to a 17 year old cousin. I'd noted no jock after 6 PM. He looked at it differently than I, who grew up on AM Top 40 with 3-4 hour jock shits 24/7/365! "Who needs a jock to interrupt the songs?" was his quote. Here's another: "why should I listen to the radio when I can go online and hear
what I want?"
Or as the 95.5 WIFC Wausau (WI) jock said after giving the request line 5 years ago "nobody calls anymore."
Radio used to be run by radio people. Not any more.
I love over the air radio, but you can't even find a basic radio (AM-FM) anywhere. That scares me quite a bit.
