I never heard anything particularly bad about Entercom until the CBS Radio merger. I thought that merger was a mistake from the day I read about it. They seemed way too in over their heads. Then they almost immediately started acting like iHeart (Firings, Format changes, pushing Radio.com, etc)

They have been in Milwaukee since around 1999 when they bought the cluster from Sinclair (Sinclair only owned it for about a year) It was a pretty top notch cluster. Good people. That cluster is becoming a ghost town now. They have been in Madison since 2000 or so. Maybe a little later.
