After Alternative tapered off, Metallica and even Tool entered playlists on those stations. Just like Disco never died in 1979 it was part of a lot of the 80s music, Pop, Urban and even Rock.
iHeart will never use "listener" based input. They pay for research based title testing and mark my words. They are out to sink WDRV and to a lesser extent WLS/WKQX, so they can make enough of a dent for market billing. Between WDRV & WTMX, they are a billing monster. Sink them enough then iHeart can be the market leader in billing revenue. It is an ingenious plan during a period when current music is in the toilet. Also a good opportunity for the 25 - 54 year old male to enjoy a throw back to the old school of rock based music.
They will also be clearing some AM drive network show that will be a has been, also ran and will drag down the ratings for the rest of the day.
