Scott might have not liked it but he knew it worked and he allowed it to happen. Radio those days was overall locally decided and managed, unlike today it is the opposite. The issue is Buddy was from the old boys club and would not easily surrender his rock based B96 previous days to an ethnic audience (if you ever sat in a meeting with Tommy Edwards you know exactly what I mean), which was what was happening, so he would never admit it. Yet, under his leadership they started the B96 Hit Mixes which were basically no hardcore dance titles, but familiar Top40 titles extended and remixes by Brain Middleton. - FACT
Then when WBMX died they took it to the next level unleashing house and freestyle hits. When they launched B96 Dance Party in 1989 they DOUBLED their share over WGCI's mix show. - FACT
Shakes took over in 1990 and expanded it to the whole station. Three-M Path (dance) music, mornings & marketing. Increased the Hispanic listenership as the Black community was already served. - FACT
