However... After all of the layoffs that have happened lately, I'm very surprised that some of these big radio companies haven't pulled the trigger and taken all of their music stations to a national feed. Wouldn't it make business sense to run everything off the bird? No studio cost, no customization - just transmitters and a national brand. Get rid of the mediocre local stations replace it with a single "Kiss FM" or "Greatest Hits" that's heard everywhere. Voice track the best talents and program it well. EMF does it successfully with a formats that cater to a specific audience. Wouldn't iHeart, Cumulus, or Entercom have success if they did the same thing for a more mainstream audience?
Believe me, I hate the idea and really miss the way the radio used to be. But radio has changed. Why haven't the owners?
