The FCC gives 0 craps these days. If they petitioned them that the AM is on a longwire like Ham radio guys use because of a lack of facility, or due to high land value, being able to run the original power/height allocation, they would approve it. Don't believe it would interfere with any other 95.1 anymore than it can right now.
I think they are squatting on a lot of translators. Speculation they will be worth more money one day. Also possibly being able to move them closer into the city or elsewhere.
WSPY-AM is not even listed in Radio-Locator. I looked it up in the FCC database. Tried finding radiation pattern info but the FCC websites have been hit or miss loading up lately.
