WWCA 1270 Gary Indiana needs to go. Their programming wasn't great in my opinion under Willis Broadcasting, before they shut off the station in 1994, then Starboard Radio buying the silent license in 2002, and upgrading the tower site to bring it back on the air in December of that year. There's nothing local on the station. When this 1270 was off the air, I used to get the 1270 from either Elkhart Indiana, or the 50kw station out of Detroit.
You talk about WLTH Gary on 1370. I don't know if you've tried to listen to them at night, but this station is violating their license by operating on their daytime tower 24/7. I've gotten this station in downtown Chicago at night, when they're supposed to be directional at only 500 watts, not non-directional at 1kw.
I used to get the old WCGO 1600 Chicago Heights. It barely reached my home in Gary, but my radios picked it up. For a while, they used to operate on their daytime power at night, and I heard the station even better at night, then during the daytime. When they fixed their issues, and operated according to their license, their 23 watt signal no longer reached Gary, and because of that 1600 being close to Gary, I couldn't get any 1600 at night. I currently don't have a radio in my home, & the car I currently have, doesn't pick up AM stations at all, and only FM, if I'm within their primary contour of their stations, and iffy reception in secondary contours.
