Tuned in on Tuesday and they were doing “2K Tuesday” Bunch of Early 2000s Pop I have not heard on the radio in awhile. Add in the fact that they still play plenty of recent music, and people in the upper end of the 18-34 demo and the lower end of 25-54 have a station of their own. As I mentioned in earlier threads, 104.3 is obviously almost completely Hip-Hop and R&B songs that were big on Top-40 and Rhythmic in the 90s and 2000s. 100.3 is seemingly taking care of the rest (The Pop and Rock) They already have been doing “90s Throwback Thursday” and Brian Middleton has mixes on there.
101.9 was very current based in recent years. Still is. However suddenly they started throwing 90s music back in. That sounds a lot like what B96 has been doing in the last year (Putting some 2000s into rotation) That is assuming their sister stations and not modern music are not the cause of their ratings trouble.
B96 and The Mix are not bad as far as modern music is concerned. They play the hits. Pop music is really tough right now. Had a boost over the summer but it didn’t last. Top-40 and Adult Top-40 unlike Urban AC, AC, AAA and Alternative do not have the luxury of being able to heavily lean on their gold libraries when new music is not all that good.
