People under 40 are not tuning in. Stations like WLS & WIND are 64+ heavy in numbers, no one replacing them. Stations like WCPT are non existent as "liberals or progressives" go online and elsewhere to get their fix. Moody sees the writing on the wall and their Daytimer AM is up for sale.
Especially an AM daytimer is super dead. In 1975 it could survive. In 2019 people live 24/7 lives. Also the sheer competition to consume elsewhere is incredible. You have 50KW FM stations on the bird or tracked all day long. You think an AM daytimer can make it? You have to pay licensing fees for music, jocks, PD, sales staff.... in Mono, daytime only and lot of new radios don't have AM, smartphones don't. The radios that do have AM are crap sounding. Cheaper and more profitable to sell airtime.
You are wrong, an FM translator would work every well giving nighttime coverage and increasing the value of the station also in advertising dollars.
