Now however, I have another question to ask the group.
It appears that the big corporations may be giving up on AM radio as a business for growth. There is a recent LA times article indicating that CBS plans to sell all of their radio properties in Los Angeles stating that they no longer see AM radio as a business growth vehicle. These big clear channel stations are going up for sale.
If that translates to the Chicago AM radio landscape is there an AM radio format that is a viable format going forward that could maintain the Chicago power house stations like WGN. WLS WSCR, and WBBM fro. A business stand point? And to a lessor extent stations like WCPT and WIND?
Is there a possibility a music format could emerge after 30 years of talk radio?
Is there a format that might emerge that we do not yet see?
Is there a new format that could sustain an AM power station with enough revenue dollars to make these AM station viable?
Let’s face it WGN coming in at 20th place in the current ratings is not going to ‘cut it.”
Let me know what you think. Please take some time to think about my questions. BTW, a rock and roll or a satellite download oldies format is not acceptable.
Let me know what you think. Thank you.
