About time someone (other than me) mentioned this, as well as the earlier sign off times for WSBC. I too noticed all this. Usually, the Access Radio stations run music during UNSOLD/UNBROKERED time.
The last 2-3 weeks of music were a mix of genres. Usually, it's lite rock/AC from the 70s-80s. I recorded non-AC stuff for future enjoyment. Yes, I actually tuned in to see what was programmed on 1240, 1470 (before the time was sold to this Latino/black churches), and 750.
Sometimes, one of these "info talk shows" would magically air in a 30 minute or one hour slot. Now, it's not the case. I wonder if the stations are going through another period (of something).
As a once frequent listener to WSBC and WCFJ: 1.) They have lost many programs over the last few years, 2.) The 9 PM (sometimes 8 or 8:30 PM) sign offs are due to #1.
The entire Sunday night, South Asian block is GONE!! Sargam had its last (unexpected) show on March 3rd. It was originally on 9-11 PM, followed by and preceded by other SA shows. Both went belly up almost two years ago. Then, Sargam moved to 8 PM (sign off was after Sargam was over). Ukrainian Wave is now the last show for WSBC's Sunday lineup.
3.) It is an extremely sad/dismal sign of current day radio (we know who to thank). Won't be long before Access Radio is history.
4.) A number of long time, ethnic shows that aired on other nights left a few years ago. The Greeks retired in April 2014, after 50+ years. Not much left at WSBC.
5.) The Russians are back to dominating WSBC. For a while, after 2009, the Russian block was cut apart. Reklama Radio expanded to 7 hours, a few months ago. Vashe (5-7 PM) is now internet only (another one gone).
6.) It would be nice if they ran music or repeats of shows overnight, instead of signing off early. I am really happy I recorded all I could (on tape or digital recorder) while I could.
